little poem that came to me out of the blue. *shrug*
i've gotten some good reviews, so i'll pass it on to you guys. rant, rave...throw bananas...
you get the idea...
(currently untitled)
What do I say
When 'I love you' isn't enough?
When words don't have the power,
And I'm left with only one simple phrase
To convey the most complex of emotions.
What do I do
When kisses aren't enough?
When I can't touch your heart
And all I can do is stare,
Trying to reach your soul in those eyes.
What can I give
When rings don't mean enough?
When I want to give you everything,
But even the world isn't up to snuff
And everything just won't cut it.
What can I show you
That will tell you what I mean?
When our souls are invisible,
But they're entwined so close
And life won't be long enough for me to explain.
I guess that someday
I'll figure it out
And I'll tell you those words that mean more than 'I love you',
I'll give you what kisses can't give,
I'll find something that conveys what rings can't,
And I'll show you exactly what I mean.
EDIT:
Here are some clarifications I forgot to mention:
1. No, this isn't to Emerson, or for him, or about him. Just feel the love, man!!
2. For those of you who are more sick-minded than others: NO, THE UNDERLYING MEANING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CARNAL DESIRES. (and yes, i was asked if that was the whole idea... -_-)
I write poetry with the simplest explanations. I dont use flowery descriptions or words coined so long ago that you'd need a dictionary handy while reading it. I also don't put much hidden meaning in my poerty. It's up front, totally obvious, and requires no analysis what so ever to get my real meaning. So, in the words of Lady Sovereign, "If you love me then, thank you. If you hate me then, fuck you!" XP
