Some of you might be first timers to this whole "R-o-l-e-p-l-a-y" thing or some of you just want to know what style this board uses. So I'll try to make this quick and uncomplicated.
First thing you do is you create an alternate character. Write out all kinds of stats for this person. Act like it's a real person and describe them. Really get to know the character. Other people will do the same. Then you can interact with other people's characters in whatever desired setting has been chosen. Eventurally as the writting piles up a simple RP will be much like a fully written grand-scale epic story suitable for being a novel. Except it's much easier to write this novel because you have a lot of co-authors with adds lots of variety too.
When RPing thier are typically two types of writting. Type A:
Bob looked over to Amy as he asked, "Trust me it's safe." Right after he says that a huge explosion goes off close to them. Amy gets fustrated as she screams towards Bob "You are such an idiot!" and smacks him as she says it.
Type B:
Bob: Trust me it's safe.
*Huge explosion goes off*
Amy: You are such an idiot! *Smacks Bob*
Type A is the standard form. The only place where Type B will be used is in Chibi Role-plays.

There are actually lots of forms of RPing - but -vaguely- there are 'serious/general' and 'spam'. For serious rpgs, if people would like to partake that do not role-play very often, or at all and want to [with all seriousness 'n such] there could always be a place to -train- them with trainers. Just a suggestion.
